1. KENDRA COPYRIGHT UPDATE FOR LEGAL PROFESSIONALS JUNE 17 LONDON

Kendra Initiative is holding an intimate copyright technology update on Wednesday June 17th 9.30am to 1pm in London. The difference is, for the morning session, we are only inviting media legal professionals from the UK and beyond. We have a meeting room booked out with a capacity of 18 people (unless we get a better offer) from 9.30am to 1pm.

The morning session will include presentations from:
• Bjorn Schipper – Media lawyer in Amsterdam with a mission to build a "movement" – http://www.schipperlegal.nl/en
• Dominic Young – CEO of The Copyright Hub – building open architecture for copyright – http://www.copyrighthub.co.uk
• James Hazard – Founder of CommonAccord – creating a modular template system for ("smart") contracts – http://www.commonaccord.org
• Phil Barry – Founder of Edmund Hart – working with distributed technologies (Ethereum/Blockchain) and music rights management –
http://www.edmundhart.com
• Daniel Harris – Founder of Kendra Initiative – fostering a Distributed Marketplace (Open Value Network) for Digital Media –
https://www.kendra.io

Arrive at 9.30am for a 10am start. We'll then have presentations followed by an open discussion.

Please feel free to invite other media legal professionals who you think/feel should be at this meeting and discussion.

I have a sneaking suspicion that we may get a bit of interest for this event, so if you know of a larger venue that we can move this event to then please do get in touch exceedingly quickly, otherwise we may have to turn people away.

But please only make plans to attend if you have a personal confirmation from myself (Daniel Harris).

2. KENDRA HUB MUSIC/MEDIA DASHBOARD REVIEW JUNE 17 LONDON

Kendra Initiative is holding an intimate Kendra Hub music/media dashboard review on Wednesday June 17th 2.30pm to 6pm in London. For this afternoon session, we are inviting media professionals (with an emphasis on the music industry) from the UK and beyond. We have a meeting room booked out with a capacity of 18 people (unless we get a better offer) from 2.30pm to 6pm.

We will be demonstrating Kendra Hub – music/media dashboard application for artists and copyright owners to manage and track their digital media assets and associated credit/rights metadata. We'll be taking questions and talking about the future vision of a distributed open value network for the media industry.

Arrive at 2.30pm for a 3pm start. We'll then have presentations followed by an open discussion.

Please feel free to invite other media professionals who you think/feel should be at this meeting and discussion.

I have a sneaking suspicion that we may get a bit of interest for this event, so if you know of a larger venue that we can move this event to then please do get in touch exceedingly quickly, otherwise we may have to turn people away.

3. KENDRA INITIATIVE JOINS DIGITAL CATAPULT CONTRIBUTOR PROGRAMME

Kendra Initiative has joined the Digital Catapult contributor programme for its work on ‪Kendra Hub‬. A big thanks to The Copyright Hub for pushing the right buttons. Daniel Harris is now hot-desking in a fabulous location in central London.

4. SEEKING PARTNERS AND FUNDING FOR KENDRA HUB DEVELOPMENT

Once again, as current funding comes to a close, we are seeking partnerships and funding opportunities to continue development of Kendra Hub. Current plans include forming/joining EU H2020 consortia and/or continuing with the next UK SMART grant. Get in touch if you want to join in the fun!

5. HOW DOES A CAMPAIGN TO "SET MEDIA MAKERS FREE!" SOUND?

For a while now I've been considering going for crowd funding. But we need to build a ground swell of support. Could a campaign like "Set Media Makers Free!" work?

"Calling all media makers (managers and owners) of music, film, image and text. This is a campaign (not a physical event) to seek ways to provide Media Makers with access to, control and ownership of data that is theirs – such as: split details, copyright details, sales reports, asset tracking, social interaction. And to seek ways to provide tools to assist in the management of social networks, copyright societies (CMOs) and distribution services. And to encourage portable and secure data practices so that artists, managers and owners are free to move between technologies and vendors with no lock-in."
